Greeter this week: Frank Yakimchuk

(L-R: President of the Rotary Club of Yellowknife with me and to the right, Paul Falvo, a former President Elect with the Rotary E Club of Canada One Alumni)

This past week, I made a visit to Yellowknife, NWT to visit my Mother who lives there at the Avens' Manor and is in very good care. When I was away from Rotary for several years, my Mother would suggest to me from time to time that I rejoin. I stayed at Paul Falvo's house which is a short 10 minute walk to the Avens' Manor. Paul is now active with the True North Rotary Club which I was a Charter Member and their second President. Paul certainly supports me as a Rotarian in the true spirit of Fellowship and Friendship.
One of my goals during this year as President was to meet in person, communicate by phone, by GotoMeeting or by email all our EClub membership. I especially enjoy meeting Rotarians in our Calgary Pod, Edmonton Pod and the Yellowknife Pod. Last Friday, I had lunch with Biswanath, his daughter, Rashmani and Newton Grey at a local eatery In Yellowknife. We had some very constructive discussion and left feeling very good about the YK Pod Meeting. I should recognize Paul Falvo for supporting the "Pod Concept" and our Weekly  "Coffee Chat" which some treated as a curiosity in the beginning.
Please look for those opportunities to visit other Rotary Clubs near you, the Clubs you may have belonged to in the past and those you may discover in your travels.

First of all the scenery was beautiful.  Inspirational thinking from one man.  Loved the comment that we are the only monsters as animals.  Also who knew all the benefits of coconut trees!
Wendy Giuffre, RC of Calgary South, D-5360

Reforestation of Majuli Island ("heaven on Earth") in India- it is truly inspirational to see what one person can do to protect & nurture mother earth. Bless his work.
Velma Noble, RCCHP, D-5360

Since the 1970's Majuli islander Jadav Payeng has been planting trees in order to save his island. To date he has single handedly planted a forest larger than Central Park NYC. His forest has transformed what was once a barren wasteland, into a lush oasis.
Michael Thomas, RC of Stony Plain, AB, D-5370
