Greeter this week: Vicki Horsfield
I recently had the honor of attending a meeting of the Antigua Rotary Club in Antigua, Guatemala. As a guest, I was asked to tell about myself so I had the opportunity to explain about our E-club and how it works. Many members were interested to know how our club functions and how we meet, as they had never heard of E-Clubs or had never met a member of one. The Antigua Rotarians were intrigued to learn that we our members lived all over the world and that most of us have only seen each other through the internet. I explained that we meet just like they do, only in 2-D instead of 3-D! Hopefully, some of them will log-on and join one of our future Fellowship Assemblies!

One must be ready to fail if one will succeed.

Margaret Werthen and her sister Christine studied the mathematics of coral. It has been found that coral can be only modelled by crochet. What has been determined is that through this modelling that straight lines can be hyperbolic or curves. Once one of the curves edges of a crocheted modelled coral is flattened it becomes straight. It was though by mathematicians that a straight line which is considered as only one parallel line can pass through a point or Euclidean Space and not a Spherical space. Modelling coral has proven that wrong. Margaret and her sister now have people modelling coral all over the world with exhibits in places like New York, London, and Los Angeles.

Not sure I've ever heard the word "pathologize", but somehow it seems to be rather accurate...

Start a club
Starting new Rotary clubs increases our ability to improve lives in communities around the world. A new club adviser works with district leaders to develop and support the new club during the process. Other Rotary clubs and members can help the new club succeed by serving as sponsors or mentors.
