The Art of Giving and of Receiving!

We are delighted you are here! Let us know.

Rotary gives us many ways to give back and to be thankful.
Gary Chapman, in his book "Gifts of Love" has many tips for us to consider. Consider what your language of love is or that of your recipient of your gift. Is it Tangible gifts, quality time, words of affirmation, acts of service (devotion), or physical touch?

The blind can hear; the deaf can smell; or the blind and deaf can feel gentle touch or understand a kind word.  Secret Santa's, like good Rotarians, listen to others needs.
The momentary effectiveness of a gift, is often how it is received or how we respond to the gift.
My father gave gifts to the family of affirmation, gratitude, quality gifts of time and material gifts, I shall never forget. My mother gave her gift of time, resources, service and faith. My sister appreciated creativity and gifts of time and devotion. Our skills and gifts were very different but we each learned how to use our differences to reach our goals harmoniously. Gladly, I had an opportunity to affirm them and thank them for these gifts that keep on giving to me.
As 2017 comes to a close, I want to thank our Rotary family for your friendship in good times and difficult ones, for sharing with each other and for finding ways to achieve harmoniously our goals. I invite readers to inquire about joining our Rotary family.

Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays and Peace and Good Will to all!
.....And please let us know you were here or did a makeup in the last two weeks!

Comments from our Guests and Members
Members and guest attending our weekly meetings are very important to us. Based on your comments we are able to produce many more educational, inspiring and entertaining weekly meetings.
Following are some of the comments we have received. Would you send us your comments please?

The Mystery of Meech Lake
I enjoyed the story of Carbide Wilson. As a Boy Scout almost 60 years ago we used carbide lamps when camping out or spelunking. It was interesting to learn about the man who discovered the use of acetylene gas.

Steve Sandlin, RC of Decatur Daybreak, D-6860

It was a great story of the entrepreneurial spirit that so many of us Rotarians possess and the realization of the dream.  Sadly his early death is also a reminder that we also have to take care of ourselves!
Wendy Giuffre, RC of Calgary South, D-5360

How to Green the world's deserts and reverse Climate change
Very insightful and I especially loved the inspirational video of the paralyzed man making his annual dive. The speaker was unique - I'd never heard ideas like his about climate change before and I will definitely be sharing them.

Annadette Clarke-Moore, RC of Grande Prarie, D-5370

Dananjaya Hettiarachchi's talk was amazing.  He is a very dynamic speaker.  Always enjoy the meeting material and often share on Facebook or with family members.
Sharon Blaker, Rotary E-Club of Canada One, D-5370

"Despacito" means slowly. I recall so many happy times dancing in El Salvador and celebrating New Years!
No one is left out at all. No wall flowers in El Salvador when music is around.
