Chair Elly Reminds us that June is Fellowship Month
Rotary has other Fellowship opportunities. These are Rotary Fellowships, which are open to Rotarians and their spouses. They help foster international understanding and can contribute significantly to individual communities. Fellowships are rooted in local environments, but at the same time link Rotarians with similar interests all over the world.
The purpose is to:
- Share common interest in worthwhile recreational activities (sports, hobbies, etc.);
- Further their vocational development through acquaintance with others of the same profession;
- Make new friends around the world;
- Explore new opportunities for service; and
- Have fun and enhance their experience in Rotary.
Examples of Rotary Fellowships include: Rotarians on the Internet (ROTI), Amateur Radio, Dentists, Doctors, Lawyers, Computer Users, Convention Goers, Musicians, Rotary Global History Fellowship, etc.
Members of the provisional International Fellowship of Geocaching Rotarians for example have a common interest in using GPS devices for geocaching, waymarking and associated activities and to promote the work of Rotary within the local and international community through these pursuits.
They contact the Rotary Club in their area for instance and invite them to a park cleanup/Geocaching event. For the International Convention in Sydney, Australia , Geocaching Rotarians plan on getting together and schedule a Geocaching event in the Sydney area, open to all Rotarians.
