Greeter this week:  Paul Falvo
Greetings from Cambridge Bay, Nunavut.
Usually I'm in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories. Being in the E-Club means I can attend a meeting from anywhere.
People often ask how a Rotarian in an E-Club does community service. After all, service is the ultimate goal of Rotary.
Fortunately, our options are many - including volunteering for an E-Club project (could be online or local), or with a terra club, and even simply doing volunteer work in your community.
Here's an example ... in the first quarter of 2014, I did service by:

- Volunteering for Radio Days with a local terra club
- Volunteering for bike auction committee with a local terra club
- Joining the E-Club's Dolly Parton literacy committee
- Coordinating the E-Club business card exchange
- Recruiting new members to the E-Club
- Promoting the E-Club on FaceBook; and,
- Volunteer firefighting
Wherever you are, there is lots that needs doing!

Comments from our Guests and Members

“Thank You Lynne, Paul, Frank and Gord for all the hard work and for getting our e-club involved in such a great Literacy program. As a former teacher, parent, and grandparent what better gift can we give to others than that of encouragement to read.”
Anne Skirving, Member e-club Canada One

District 5370 Rotary Day
Last May, several of our members joined D5370 Rotarians in Edmonton for Clean Up Day and Fellowship.
May 10, 2014, Rotarians will gather again for a clean up and Rotary Family Day at Fort Edmonton Park, celebrating Rotary’s legacy of the park. We are hoping for a strong media presence. This annual event is organized by the Rotary Clubs of Edmonton and Northern Lights.
There is no cost involved for this great community builder.

DG Betty challenges all Rotarians and clubs to put on their Rotary wear and pick a hands-on project that day to celebrate Rotary in their community.

Update on Our Local In Canada Project Dolly Parton Imagination Library
Submitted by Lynne

As a result of the hard work of our Service Committee and support of our donors, 31 children in the community of Tuktoyaktuk, NWT are now registered to receive books from the Dolly Parton Imagination Library.
The first book all children receive, once they are enrolled in the program is “The Little Engine That Could."
Each book is personalized with the child’s name and the following:
“Happy Reading! Compliments of The Rotary E-Club of Canada One.”
There are still many more children that would benefit from your support. If you wish to sponsor a child please complete the SPONSORSHIP FORM and make your donation HERE

New Members Corner

One of our newest members, Biswanath recently visited Greece and arranged for a meeting with Sofoklis Tsougenis and Athina Goudi President & District administrator of D2470.

The Greek Rotarians were interested in a skype chat with President Bruce to exchange information.
"This event gave me an excellent feeling …Rotarians have no boundaries….they are simply Rotarians….regardless of where ever they are located".

Juan Carlos also made an effort to meet Rotarians while traveling.
He did two make ups in Cancun; The club was a lot of fun, Juan was there for the presentation of a child's wheel chair from Canada and  the club presented a banner. JC took a few pictures and have shared them HERE

From 2013 to 2018, every US dollar Rotary commits to polio eradication will instantly become three dollars, thanks to a 2-to1 match by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. Join Rotary in the final push to end polio and help make history today.

Food for Thought
(Submitted by Chris Langley)
People can do amazing things when they work together as a team, especially when they are fully devoted to what they are doing. This group of kids performing a great song called “Cups” is an example of the apparently simple yet factually complex being pulled off beautifully because they are very well synchronized, obviously having fun and at the end the final product is great.
