Welcome to the meeting everyone!
I'm so thankful to have found this e-club option!
Rotary has provided me with so many unique and life-altering opportunities.
On the picture, I am pictured with my GSE Team, some Rotarians, and Sergey, the Boat Builder, in a small village outside of Yaroslavl, Russia. Sergey is an amazing man who was a Chernobyl victim and was given 6 months to live. He refused to believe the medical profession, moved out of the city to a rural area, and 30 years later, is still going strong!

Enjoy the meeting. Keep coming back!
Herky

Opening Remarks

ImageChair Elly and Ramiro with friend Jane Woolnough from Vancouver during a recent trip to BC

August is Membership month, what better time than to talk about Rotary and the need to continue to grow worldwide.

In order for Rotary to grow, and remain strong, it needs to type of members:
The older generation with their passion, experience and available time and the younger generation with their enthusiasm, new ideas, Social Media skills and keen interest in Service Above Self.

Most of us have children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews, who we may have never considered for our traditional Rotary clubs. For many members of the New Generation an E-club may be the answer.
If you know of former Interactors, Rotaractors,
Youth Exchange students, RYLA or RYPEN participants, spend some time with them, bring your computer along or direct them to the website of the Rotary E-club of Western Canada on their own i-phone or tablet.
They will thank you for introducing them to our club.

The Rotary E-club of Western Canada welcomes members from all parts of the Rotary world. Imagine how we, young and old, white or coloured can make this place a better world, together.
Thank you to all who have contributed to this week’s meeting.I find this week’s  speaker very inspiring, if you agree, you may want to show it to others.
Invite them to your computer and enjoy the meeting. Remember, every week we will have a new program. Have fun and have a great Rotary day.

Comments from our Guests

I thought the letter from Elly Contreras is worth sharing…her and Ramiro set an example of how Rotary can be a part of our lives away from the meeting table.  I would like to encourage my club members to find Rotary moments where they are."

"I like reading the comments from other attendees.  They have some good ideas worth looking into."

"I also like the ease of the program, interesting anecdotes and humour and appreciate the Rotary lesson about the avenues of  Service”.

 A Little Humor

ROTARY Moment
I bet you did not know:
Key note speaker for the D5370 Conference in Grande Prairie is former Canadian Prime Minister the Right Honourable Joe Clark.  Mr. Clark will be speaking to all conference delegates at a plenary session scheduled for Friday, September 21 at 3:30 pm.
When accepting the invitation to speak to District 5370 Rotarians, Mr. Clark divulged a Rotary connection that not only impacted his own life but Canada as well. He wrote:  “Rotarians might be interested to know that my first trip to Ottawa, from Alberta, was as a Rotary Adventure in Citizenship, sponsored by the High River Rotary Club, when I was 17.  It was the period of the famous Pipeline Debate, and the trip tipped the balance in my thinking, towards becoming active in national affairs”.
Rt. Hon Joe Clark.

Other notable conference speakers include Peter Legge and Michael Kerr.
