At our recent visit to the Rotary Club of Osoyoos, we received the most warmest welcome ever. Each of the 20 plus members, made an effort to come and greet us, showing a real interest in us and our e-club name badges we both wore; No one knew what an e-club was. At the invitation of President Judy Miller Bennet, Elly gave a short explanation about the e-club concept and when asked to be a speaker at a future meeting, she presented the Program Director with her Rotary E-club business card. Before we knew it neither one of us had any cards left. We learned, that Osoyoos has several Snowbirds, who like to stay connected with Rotary during the winter months; We may expect some guests from Osoyoos attending our meetings this winter.
Our Rotary experience in Osoyoos conviced us even more that this is the right community for our summer residence.
Isn't it amazing how, through Rotary we are able to connect and make instant friends in unfamiliar places.
A lot of good things can happen when you:
a.    wear your Rotary pin at all times.
b.    attend a Rotary club when visiting another community
c.    carry a few Rotary business cards in your wallet
d.    put on your e-club name badge when attending terra club meetings
e.    always have a club banner handy
(New club banners will be available soon)

Inspirational Moment
“Everybody can be great...because anybody can serve. You don't have to have a college degree to serve. You don't have to make your subject and verb agree to serve. You only need a heart full of grace. A soul generated by love.”
― Martin Luther King Jr.

New Members Corner
A brief Rotary History
The world's first service club, the Rotary Club of Chicago, Illinois, USA, was formed on 23 February 1905 by Paul P. Harris, an attorney who wished to recapture in a professional club the same friendly spirit he had felt in the small towns of his youth. The name "Rotary" derived from the early practice of rotating meetings among members' offices. Rotary's popularity spread throughout the United States in the decade that followed; clubs were chartered from San Francisco to New York. By 1921, Rotary clubs had been formed on six continents, and the organization adopted the name Rotary International a year later. As Rotary grew, its mission expanded beyond serving the professional and social interests of club members. Rotarians began pooling their resources and contributing their talents to help serve communities in need. The organization's dedication to this ideal is best expressed in its principal motto: Service Above Self. Rotary also later embraced a code of ethics, called The 4-Way Test, that has been translated into hundreds of languages.
