Greetings fellow Rotarians and Guests,
I have been part of the E-Club for approximately a year and a half. As some of you know, I am finishing up my last year of my Undergraduate Degree this coming year. In the midst of midterms and assignments, my new challenge is to make a plan for what comes afterwards, and to refine my direction. I believe the E-Club is doing the same thing. On Saturday, Oct 24th, we had a meeting for the direction we want to see the E-Club take. Those attending the meeting contributed their ideas, and future hopes for the E-Club. Through the help of Pat Bond and her District 5050 Visioning Crew, we were able to start setting a direction. I believe that all of us joined Rotary for the reason to help causes that we believed in.  Sometimes life gets very hectic, and we cannot participate as fully. I know it has been a struggle for me these past few months! Thank-you for tuning in and participating in this weeks meeting. We appreciate it!

Xavier Dolan was born on March 20, 1989 in Québec, Canada as Xavier Dolan-Tadros. He is an actor and writer, known for I Killed My Mother (2009) (won three prizes in the Directors' Fortnight section of the 2009 Cannes Film Festival), Tom at the Farm (2013) and Heartbeats (2010).
Director Xavier Dolan, who's only 26 years old, has made five feature films. On top of that, he's working on two projects at the moment - one starring Vincent Cassel (Black Swan) and Marion Cotillard (Macbeth), the other featuring Jessica Chastain (The Martian) and Susan Sarandon(The Meddler).
To add another accomplishment to his resumé, he's directed a video for Adele. The new single, "Hello", by ADELE, was officially released along with a dramatic sepia-tone video, shot by this Canadian filmmaker.

Comments from our Guests and Members
Members and guest attending our weekly meetings are very important to us. Based on your comments we are able to produce many more educational, inspiring and entertaining weekly meetings.
Following are some of the comments we have received. Would you send us your comments please?

Gabor Mate was able to explain to me why I had been so lucky to be impermeable to addiction and power. Many of us can follow powerless leaders who have great human convictions. It is also sad that many more are attracted to leaders with power and often the evil power to destroy.

Enjoyed the program on the liberation of Holland. As time goes on we become more detached from the challenges and sacrifices made by our soldiers and this program was a great reminder.
Michael Ruttan, RC of Calgary South, D-5360

My wife, the daughter of a Dutchman who survived the war as a pre-teen, and I were very proud to watch this video.  It is a great pity that the bulk of the current politicians today, in their decisions on cultural and immigration matters, have forgotten the great sacrifices made by our WW2 soldiers, in their deadly fight to uphold our Western ideals of democracy and personal liberty.

More Reason's to be a Rotarian!

Nice People: Rotarians above all are nice people the nicest people on the face of the earth. They are important people who follow the policy of "it is nice to be important but it is important to be nice."
The Absence of an "Official Creed": Rotary has no secret handshake, no secret policy, no official creed, no secret meeting or rituals. It is an open society of men and women who simply believe in helping others.
The Opportunity to Serve: Rotary is a service club. Its business is mankind. Its product is service. Rotarians provide community service to both local and international communities. This is perhaps the best reason for becoming a Rotarian: the chance to do something for somebody else; to sense the self-fulfillment that comes in the process; and the return of that satisfaction to one's own life. It is richly rewarding.

SUPPORT THE FOUNDATION ON GIVING TUESDAY, 1 DECEMBER
Join the global online movement to celebrate the season with a gift to The Rotary Foundation. Giving Tuesday, 1 December, uses the power of social media and the spirit of generosity to promote giving and philanthropy around the world.
You can support the cause by going online on 1 December to make a gift to The Rotary Foundation. Then use social media to encourage your friends and family to do the same. It's the perfect opportunity to reach our supporters and build on the momentum of Rotary Foundation Month.
Last year, the Foundation raised more than $100,000 on Giving Tuesday. This year, the district with the highest number of donors contributing to the Foundation on 1 December could receive a visit from Foundation Trustee Chair Ray Klinginsmith.
