Our Meeting Today Will Be At The Renaissance Hotel

Meet President Kat and the Reno Central Rotary Committee Chairs at the first meeting of the 2017-2018 Rotary Year!  Because the Peppermill has some space challenges this week, we will be meeting at the Renaissance Reno Downtown Hotel (Address: One South Lake Street, Reno).  The meeting will begin at 12:15 PM.  Come join us and learn more about Rotary—where neighbors, friends, and problem-solvers share ideas, join leaders, and take action to create lasting change.

Colonel (U.S. Army, Retired) Katherine Miller was raised in Reno and served 34 years in the United States Army. She culminated her military service with assignments as a military police brigade commander serving in the United States and in Afghanistan; and as the Commander of the Department of Defenses' largest correctional organization. After retiring she taught at the University of Maryland and at the University of Nevada, Reno.  In 2013 she was appointed by Governor Brian Sandoval to serve as the Director of the Nevada Department of Veterans Services.  Her education includes a Master's of Science Degree from the U.S. Army War College and a Masters of Public Administration from Roosevelt University in Chicago.  She and her husband Colonel (Retired) Bill Long enjoy hiking throughout the State in search of interesting rocks and minerals, and working as Pet Therapy Volunteers with their German Shepard "Rocky."   Her daughter Mica works for the Nevada Department of Health and Human Services and is a veteran of the Virginia National Guard and her son Noah is currently serving in the United States Army at Fort Sam Houston, Texas.
