Brian Loy

Brian believes in living life on purpose, rather than “just showing up.” As a junior at the University of California, Berkeley in the late 1970s, Brian’s professional goals changed. For many years, Brian wanted to become a doctor. While his desire to “cure” people remained, he changed his undergraduate degrees so he could bring “financial wellness”. Brian still finds it ironic that many of Sage’s clients are what he, at one time, aspired to become--health professionals.

For the past three decades, Brian has helped small to medium-sized business owners (serious business builders) address these and other financial issues. A business owner himself, Brian is highly-qualified to understand the needs of his entrepreneurial clients. He has dedicated his career to furnishing his clients—including business owners, health professionals, executives and retirees—with the specialized financial services they need.

In 1992, after spending 17 years in the Bay Area, Brian and his wife, Georgia, returned to Northern Nevada (they were both raised in Carson City) to start a family and to enjoy the quality of life that the Reno/Tahoe Area affords. For two years, Brian was a Financial Consultant for Shearson Lehman Brothers in Reno. During that time, he was also an officer for the Reno chapter of Certified Financial Planners, and met the then-Director of Investments for a Reno-based investment management firm specializing in orthodontic clientele. In 1994, Brian joined that firm, and in 1995, acquired that investment advisory business and formed Sage Financial Advisors.

Brian earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration/Finance from University of California, Berkeley in 1980, and he holds two of the highest financial professional designations, CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNERTM (1986) and Chartered Financial Analyst (1991).

This community has been great to them, so Brian is “returning the favor.” He promotes financial literacy through support and participation “It’s Your Money” adult education series, maintains active membership in WIN, EDAWN, is past president of Rotary Club of Reno Central, past president of Estate Planning Council of Northern Nevada, board member of the Planned Giving Roundtable of Northern Nevada, and is a member of UNR Planned Giving Advisory Committee. Brian is also a board member of a community hospital as well as its health plan management subsidiary.

Georgia and Brian have been married for more than 30 years and are blessed with a lovely daughter. He enjoys the outdoors (including fishing, camping, skiing, abalone diving, cycling and golf) in addition to travel and entertainment.

Steve Fonda

Steve began his financial services career in 1991. He has worked with several investment and banking companies, including Bank of America, Merrill Lynch and Smith Barney, among others. He prefers what the independent platform at Waddell & Reed offers for his clients.

Steve has seen many platforms and products over the past twenty years. He takes pride in finding the best products to recommend to his clients, as he works to assist and guide them along the way to their financial goals.

Steve loves the Eastern Sierra and Northern Nevada. He enjoys hunting and fishing while exploring the back roads and trails of Nevada. He and his wife, Patty, also love to hike and ski the Eastern Sierra. They have two grown children, son Jim and daughter Lindsey, and three grandchildren.

Greg Raleigh

Greg Raleigh was born in Seattle, Washington and graduated with a degree in Quantitative Economics in 1993 from Stanford University. Greg started his career in finance as an investment banker in New York in Citicorp's High Yield Bond department and later moved back to Seattle working in Keybank's Merger and Acquisition division. Prior to joining Waddell and Reed in December 2013, Mr. Raleigh pursued a career as a PGA golf professional running resorts and Private Clubs in Southern California and Northern Nevada. Greg has a daughter, Devin who is 12 and has been together with his girlfriend, Melissa Davis, for 4 years. Greg enjoys skiing, golf, bowling and boating.
