A Salute to Our Veterans
Veteran's Day may have passed, but Quincy Rotary's appreciation for its members who have served in the Armed Forces endures. Rick Foster, Richard Stockton, Dwight Pierson, and Darren Beatty, your service is a shining example of devotion, and we salute you.
Skilled Nursing Facility to Launch
Quincy Rotary welcomed Monday's speakers, Jaye Marcus-Ledford and Julia Morrison, who have recently joined the Quincy Community and Plumas District Hospital's new Skilled Nursing Facility team. Jaye is the PDH Social Worker and Julia the Director of Nursing. Their presentation provided a wealth of information.
PDH's Skilled Nursing Facility is set to launch Summer 2025, providing 36 beds for folks who require ongoing medical care, and simultaneously generating 70+ new job openings. Salaries and wages alone could contribute roughly $2 million per year to the local economy.
Plus none of us are getting any younger! What a comfort to know that if we can't live on our own, there is a place near home where we can be cared for. It has been nearly a decade since Quincy’s nursing home closed forcing residents who needed long-term care to be displaced from their home community, often several hours away from family and friends.
Services will be covered mainly through Medi-Cal long-term care benefits, which effective January 1, 2024, no longer considers assets for determining eligibility. The recent change in Medi-Cal benefits to help cover services in a skilled nursing facility or nursing home should help make long-term care more accessible those who need it most.
On Monday QR hosts remote worker and QR member Mark Leonhardt (seen on the right with Johnny) will give insight into his complicated job.
Also on Monday, John B. will collect IOU's from club members - so bring cash or check preferably over credit cards. Cards will work but fees are attached which is a loss for QR.
Board Votes to Cancel 50/50 Fundraiser
There are multiple reasons the QR board chose to cancel the 13th Annual QR fundraiser. One reason is that the club made no profit on the 12th Annual!
