Oh yes - See you next Monday at Greenhorn Ranch - 5:30 pm!
6 Minute Man
Quincy Fire Chief, and Monday's speaker, Frank Carey heads directly to an emergency when he gets a call. Brenda R. shared tales of her 2012 house fire when once called, Frank was at the scene in 6 minutes! When he arrives ahead of the volunteer Fire Personnel, he is able to process the scene and direct accordingly.

Frank became Chief of the Quincy Fire Department in July this year after serving 23 years on the team. He has 23 men and women volunteers on the roster. That number years back topped 45. Several Rotarians have volunteered including Richard Stockton, Darren Beatty, and David Windle. Currently, Andy Ryback and Mike Taborski are Fire Commissioners for the department.

Volunteers make up 70% of all U.S. Fire Departments. Quincy's clocked in 4934 volunteer hours last year with a total 572 calls. In the first half of 2023, the number of calls is 605.

Frank shared Tips on Fire Safety in Homes that will save lives including having:

  •   At least 1 Fire Extinguisher - check monthly
  •   Smoke Alarm - change batteries Fall &       Spring
  •   Carbon Monoxide Detector
  •   Family Escape Plan
Several fundraisers are slated this fall to help fund the volunteer fire department. Tickets will be available soon for their 50/50 Raffle on Nov. 4. Also, on Oct. 7, 2023 the Quincy & Graeagle department combine forces to host a golf tournament at Graeagle Meadows.
