On A Sad Note
Darren so eloquently wrote today, "It is with deep sadness that I share the news of the passing of Bob Edwards. Bob was a member of our club since April 28, 1961 – just over 62 years. Bob was a past-president in 1970-1971 and a Paul Harris Sustaining Member. Most remarkable was Bob’s perfect attendance record during his time as a Rotarian. This is a testament to his dedication and commitment to our club and Rotary International. We will always remember Bob for his big smile and infectious laugh.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Mary and the kids. I will be sure to pass along information about services as we are made aware."
Breaking News: Jeb Heiman Accepts the Role of Quincy Rotary President 2024-25!
The future of Quincy Rotary looks bright with Jeb Heiman slated to take over the presidency after Lisa Kelly's term. The father of 3 young sons with wife Lindsey, this Quincy native graduated from Quincy High in 2003, earned a degree from Sonoma State in 2008, and returned to Quincy to raise his family in his hometown. Jeb can be found at the Quincy branch of Plumas Bank where he works as a VP/Business Advisor. So what does this amiable Rotarian do for fun? As he put it, "Hang with my boys!" Admirable pastime, and soon to be added will be steering Quincy Rotary into a successful future!
Join the Effort to Rebuild Argentine Rock Lookout!
Last Monday, Jeff Greef, chairman of the local Forest Fire Lookout Association, asked for volunteers to join in rebuilding the Argentine Rock Lookout in Plumas County. Their Mission is to restore this historic lookout to a safe and functional condition so that it may once again serve the community through recreational use and fire prevention - to build a place to gather.
The lookout was originally built in the 1930's and was used as a fire lookout until the 1980's. Since that time, the structure has fallen into disrepair, but things are about to change!
Greef says, "There is a job for everyone - all ages and all skill sets - on the team." Though the organization has obtained a RAC Grant for the USFS to replace the stairs, improve the road, and purchase materials, donations are greatly needed.
