Welcome to the January issue of The Quincy Rotary Bulletin! It's been a month or more since you have received a bulletin so there is some catching up to do. January saw the passing of a dedicated Quincy Rotarian. And another dedicated Rotarian is Member of the Week. Note who spoke at the last meeting and calendar the upcoming dates in February.
In Remembrance
Quincy Rotary remembers long-time Rotarian David Adrian for his 48 years of service and membership, at his passing. David served as club president in the 1990-91 year and volunteered for countless community projects.
Our thoughts and prayers are with his wife Nancy and the rest of the family. The Adrain family appreciates all that Rotary has contributed to the community especially the Student Exchange Program and Youth Services. Donations to Quincy Rotary Youth Programs can be made in David's memory. He was a beloved Rotarian and community member. He will be missed.
A Celebration of Life for David is tentatively scheduled for Saturday, June 21st, David's favorite time of the year.
CASA
Ready to volunteer as an advocate for the safety of a child? Take a first step towards that goal by visiting BecomeACASA.org or contact the local CASA Program Manager, Ashley Simpson, at Plumas CASA.org.
Ashley noted at Monday's meeting that CASA does not stand for house but for Court Appointed Special Advocate volunteer program. A CASA volunteer makes an impact on a child's life by advocating, sometimes in court, for the child's safety, permanency and well-being while in foster care.
Volunteers become a powerful voice creating a positive difference during a critical time in a child's life. Ready to speak up for a child?
If you are ready to commit 10-15 hours per month for the duration of a case; if you are at least 21 year old; if you can participate in an in-depth training program; if you go through a criminal and CPS background check, than You will change a child's life.
Calendar of Events
Next week, QR hosts the Quincy Chamber of Commerce and the Indian Valley Innovation Hub who are now housed together on Main Street.
The annual High School Speech Contest is Monday, Feb. 10. Judges are needed.
Calendar an evening meeting for the Youth Music Contest slated for Wed., Feb. 19 at the Quincy Elementary Alder Campus.

Thank you Karen Kleven for suggesting that some of QR's PG&E dollars buy 5 shiny hunter green trash cans for downtown Quincy, replacing the tattered old disgusting cans. And thanks for following through with ordering and planning the implementation of this much needed project!
