Quincy Rotary
Bulletin

May 14,  2025
Welcome to another issue of our weekly bulletin! Find out who spoke at our last meeting. Also, help recruit a young local teen for the awesome RYLA experience! And see you on the links on Saturday.
The State of Plumas County
On Monday, Supervisor and Quincy Rotarian Mimi Hall brought club members up-to-date on Plumas County government. These are some takeaways from her talk:
She is transparent. For instance, Town Hall meetings with Mimi are every third Thursday of the month. Often she invites another county supervisor to join in the presentation.
The County Budget must adjust for California's midyear revised state budget. Unfortunately, the governor announced that California faces a $12B deficit which affects Plumas County. However, there is a reduction of $4M in overstated salaries.

For the year 25-26, plans include:
• A comprehensive salary survey
• Health care minimum wage
• Cease use of on-time funding for ongoing expenses
• Address infrastructure

Also planned is upcoming HR Director and CAO recruitments,

The good news is that there is an increasing collaboration across key departments – HR, Auditors, TTC, County Counsel. Also, since Mimi took office in January 2025, she sees trust building in county government which is a cultural shift.

RYLA is an intense, challenging program, sponsored by California and

Applications are due May 28 so time's a ticking!

The students participate in a character-building camp provided by the Grizzly Creek Ranch Ropes Course, which focuses on leadership, effective communication, trust and cooperation.
