Welcome to another issue of our bulletin! Find out who spoke at last Monday's meeting if you missed it, and find out about where Quincy Rotary is headed this upcoming week.
Keeping Plumas County Safe
Portola Rotary President and Plumas County Sheriff Chad Hermann, along with his wife Renee, were honored guests of the Quincy Rotary Club. Lifelong sweethearts, the Hermanns have been together since meeting at Portola High School. Renee served as Portola Rotary President last year and jokingly notes that she is still doing most of the work—understandable, as Chad was appointed Plumas County Sheriff in August 2025.
The luncheon also welcomed six guests from the Greenville Rotary Club who attended to learn more about the initiatives Sheriff Hermann is implementing.
Among the changes underway at the Plumas County Sheriff’s Office are signing bonuses to attract top-quality recruits; expanded training for deputies in Search and Rescue operations; the purchase of new patrol vehicles equipped with mobile command systems and cameras; and the development of a drone program to assist in missing persons cases. Starlink internet service will soon be installed in sheriff’s vehicles, and an Officer Wellness Program has also been established.
Sheriff Hermann is implementing these improvements to strengthen the Sheriff’s Office and enhance public safety throughout Plumas County.
Sell, Sell, Sell
Join us tomorrow, Feb. 7, at the Groundhog Day Festival in front of the courthouse. QR will be selling the remaining 50/50 tickets for the 13th Annual Quincy Rotary Fundraiser, taking place on Thursday, Feb. 12. Rotarian Johnny M. announces the groundhog shadow's prediction: Will it be 6 more weeks of winter or is spring here?
Tickets will be sold tomorrow, but each member is expected to sell at least the six tickets assigned to them.
13th Annual Quincy Rotary Fundraiser
See you all next Thursday, Feb. 12 at the QR 50/50 Drawing, starting at 5:30 pm, drawing at 6:30 pm.
To maximize profits, we’ve decided to cater the Thursday's fundraiser ourselves. Please bring an appetizer to share at the event—more is better! At our last drawing, we had quite the crowd.
Remember there is no lunch meeting this coming Monday. Thursday night's drawing is the meeting.
Bring partners to the party. Can't wait to see who wins!
