Ava Hagwood visited Rotary on Monday as a RYLA Alumni. She was advocating for The RYLA Alumni ActionCommittee Bike Process Revamp which provides bikes for kids in need. During RYLA, the high schoolers build bikes to give to 35-40 young people who are bussed to the camp for a day of activities. While each of the young children are given a revamped bike, the RYLA participants are given 3 powerful lessons:

Ava is asking for a $100 plus donation. Darren suggested that a request be put on the next board meeting agenda.
Last Week's Speaker
Judge Doug Prouty gave insight into the "who's, what's, and where's" of the new Quincy Courthouse project. The site has not been selected, but 10 areas are being considered, which then narrows to 3, then 2, and then 1. Dame Shirley Park is still in the mix. A group of 10 local community members, including Doug and Dwight P., were chosen to assist with the site selection.
The project provides a 3 courtroom, 54,000 sq. ft., $100,891,000.00 facility in Quincy - maybe downtown, maybe East Quincy. The project requires acquisition of a site of approximately 1.88 acres. It replaces the court's operations and courtrooms in the existing courthouse. The current court building ranks in the bottom 5 in all the state due to seismic and safety issues.
Member of the Week
Two years plus, Jeb Heiman has been Rotary's 50/50 Raffle Lead, organizing the invitation/tickets, distributing those tickets, and collecting the money from the ticket sells. Thank you Jeb, for helping make this major Rotary Fundraiser a success!
