Welcome to another issue of our weekly bulletin! It's been a busy week so catch up on the Rotary News, what we covered during the last weekly meeting, and learn who is our Member of the Week is.

Quincy Rotary dominated the Area Speech & MusicContest on Sat., March 18. Savannah Little (David L.'s daughter) won in Speech while Fischer Clark scored first in Music. Both move on to the District 5190 contest in April.
Quincy Rotary lost a mile of its Cal Trans Hwy.Clean-up gig but was able to hold onto another mile thanks to Johnny Mansell and Leslie Edlund. Both volunteered to head over to Cal Trans to be trained in the proper protocol of cleaning-up. We must commit to 4 times per year (we were remiss in only doing the job 2x's yearly). It's $250 per clean-up. The club plans to ask high school sports teams to help and donate the funds to those teams.

Help For Ukraine - Mobile Health Clinics
In Ukraine, attacks on health facilities are rising daily. People cannot access healthcare and many are dying because they cannot be treated. Rotary asked, "How can we help?" and found a way. Rotary District 5190 sent out a call and Quincy Rotary responded quickly, vowing to contribute $1000 towards a Rotary Foundation Global Grant providing mobile health clinics to war-torn Ukraine. Each unit costs $40,000 and will help replace the destroyed healthcare facilities throughout Ukraine. The District is looking to fund 2 clinics. Plus, the District will match the club's contribution with the same amount, and The Rotary Foundation will match 80% of the club's contribution. Quincy Rotarian, Andy Ryback, who is himself half Ukrainian, genorously pledged an additional $1000 towards the purchase of the mobile units.
Going to the Chapel...
Wedding season is upon us, so who knew that weddings are a major industry in Plumas County? A $15 million industry cranking out over 300 weddings a year! Several folks in the business spoke to Rotary on Monday. Val & Keven Cook - Kinship Ranch; Rachel Mann & Penie Derrick - 20 Mile House; Leann Logan - Chalet View Lodge; Courtney Reid & Richard Aiple - Nakoma Resort; Antoinette Quesenberry & Trey West - Graeagle Corner Barn; and Oran Morrison - Quincy Jct. Barn all provided an entertaining overview of weddings from brides doing handstands to cows being part of the wedding photos! Can you guess the biggest problem these Plumas County vendors face? That's it: Lack of Lodging!
