Welcome to another issue of our weekly bulletin! Find out who our upcoming speaker is, what we covered during the last weekly meeting, and learn more about our Member of the Week.
Argentine Lookout
The photo to the right is of a volunteer group completing a successful workday at Argentine Lookout. Jeff Greef is the head of that volunteer effort to restore this national historic treasurer.

Scenically perched on a rocky peak on the Mt. Hough Ranger District of the Plumas National Forest, Argentine Rock Lookout was in active service until 1980. It has since fallen to disrepair.

On Monday, Sept. 21, Greef will update us on the ongoing efforts of restoring Argentine.
A Last Hurrah
Local boy James “Tug” Shipp (here with his QHS buddy Kris Kurpjuweit, future QR president) delivered his final remarks as General Manager of Central Plumas Recreation & Park District at Quincy Rotary, marking a chapter closure as he embarks on a new adventure with his family in Sonora, CA. Some 26 applicants applied for Jame's job. Four or five are being interviewed this week with a decision made hopefully by the of this week.

Exciting new addtions to Quincy announced by James are pickleball courts at Gansner Park where the old tennis courts were.

Kris and Tug went to school in Quincy together.

Grinduro Gang
Quincy Rotary - Saturday, 9/12 - at the Rotary Aid Station at Sierra Buttes Trail Stewardship - Mountains to Meadows Grinduro - where collective effort drives success and camaraderie. This race is a BIG boost to Quincy.

The SBTS bike event brings 250 racers to our town for the weekend. Festivities kick off on Friday at the Plumas/Sierra County Fairgrounds. Most contestants camp at the fairgrounds where food trucks and music provide a festival atmosphere.

The event showcases a system of trails developed by SBTS over the past decade in partnership with the Plumas National Forest. Some racers covered nearly 40 miles of the networks 70+ miles.

Thanks Quincy Rotarians - John Sheehan, Karen Kleven and Pete Hochrein with wife Julie - for volunteering your time.
Member of the Week
Shout out to Rick Foster because he asks multiple questions of our guest speakers which keeps the conversation lively. And he helps Herschel with setting up the meetings.
