PDH's Bargain Boutique: Fine Thrift & Gifts
If you have not stopped at Downtown Quincy's Bargain Boutique, you are missing a moment. For a couple of dollars, John Breaux bought himself the perfect slightly used Christmas themed sports coat that had us drooling at a past Christmas party. Kory tried on a nifty knit cap/scarf - a 2 for 1. The volunteers who spoke at last week's Quincy Rotary - Gloria (Jim's better half) Boland, Marcia (Lisa's mom) Price and Carla Hamilton wore outfits purchased at the Boutique including their snow boots. The total cost each spent was less than $20.
The Bargain Boutique's goal is to raise funds for Plumas District Hospital. This unique shop on Quincy's Main Street is the major fundraiser for the Plumas District HospitalVolunteers. Founded in 1978, PDH Volunteers have donated equipment to the hospital valued at over $650,000. They also offer scholarships to local students who are pursuing a career in healthcare and staff a blood drive in June each year.
Darren Beatty confirmed that the PDH Volunteers, through money raised at the Bargain Boutique, “are the single biggest contributors to the hospital.”

Quincy Rotary's Short-Term Youth Exchange
Quincy Rotary Exchange student Joaquin Sandobal, with his host "brother" Kaleb Dupras, shared his bio at Monday’s meeting. Joaquin and Kaleb have been part of Rotary's Short-Term Exchanges which last a couple of months when school is not in session. Joaquin & Kaleb first met when Kaleb stayed this summer with the Sandobal family in Argentina. In turn, Joaquin came to Quincy during his summer break to stay with the Dupras family. In a few short weeks, Joaquin will return to his home in Argentina.
Through Rotary Short-Term Youth Exchange, Joaquin and Kaleb discovered another culture, became part of another family thus expanding their global network.

Member of the Week
Herschel Beailis celebrating his 33rd year as a Quincy Rotarian! Herschel is the member who diligently sets up our Monday meeting space and quietly puts it away when we are done. He is our go-to bartender at Rotary Social events. He is there when he is needed, with a smile and a helping hand. Thank you Herschel!
