Rotary is back in the Mineral Building this Monday, March 20, and hopefully the snow in the parking lot will be melted. Learn about the Wedding Industry that is fueling several small businesses in Plumas County from venues to cakes and flowers. The program should be insightful!
And sell those T-signs for the Rotary Golf Tournament on May 6. Hopefully, the snow will have melted on the Plumas Pines course by then!
Australia or Bust!
David Little is working diligently on a 2023 RotaryYouth Exchange happening for a Quincy High School student. Quincy Rotary is sending Kaleb Dupras to Australia this summer. Last Saturday, David, Kaleb and his father - pictured in the far left of the photo - attended an Outbound ExchangeStudent Orientation in the Spark's home of Jon Green, a trainer and part of the 5190 Youth Exchange Committee. Also, Sophia Martin of Truckee is planning an exchange in France. Sophia and her mom, Karen, are standing next to Rotarian and trainer Leslie Hermann on the right. Quincy Rotary has not participated in the popular Rotary Youth Exchange Program for many years, but thankfully, David has brought the program back to our area.
Monday's Music
On rainy Monday, the club gathered for the annual Rotary Music Contest at Quincy Elementary relishing as QHS students' Emma Beatley and Fischer Clark performed on the "best Baby Grand Piano" in Quincy which is why the Rotary Dinner was moved to QES. Adria Black followed on stage with her violin, fiddling several folk tunes. All three were exceptional but only one could be the first place winner. Fischer won that spot, with Emma winning 2nd and Adria Black winning 3rd. Fischer moves on to the Area Rotary Speech andMusic Contest this Saturday at Quincy's Methodist Church. Our Speech Contest winner, Savannah Little, will compete in the Area Contest on Saturday as well. Best to them both!
Members of the Week
A big applause to Karen Pierson and her Speech and Music Contest Committee - Sarah Gallagher, Lesley Edlund, Steve Hill, and yours truly, Beth Reid - for pulling off two major Rotary Youth competitions amid several Wicked Winter Storms - including several feet of snow and an Atmospheric River! One more contest to go - Quincy hosts the Area Speech and Music Contest.
