Quincy Rotary
Bulletin

March 7, 2024

Welcome to another issue of our weekly bulletin! Hear about last week's speaker, about next week's Speech Contest, about the golf tournament and about our Members of the Week.
Re-Green Greenville
Last week's speaker, Michaela Trammell, is the co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of The Dixie Fire Canopy Project. The Project's goal is to put the "green back into Greenville" by planting trees and providing a place in the shade in this town destroyed by fire. Each property is entitled to 4 trees and 2 shrubs. The first phase of planting, this Spring 2024, provides 50 trees on private residential lots; the second phase will plant 20 trees on commercial properties.

Greenville's The Spot is the initial recipient with ten trees and seven shrubs sponsored by Greenville Rotary. The installation coincides with Arbor Day festivities in April.

The cost per property for installation is about $2400. Multiple agencies, clubs, and even P.G. & E. have donated to the project. If interested in donating, contact: dixiefirecanopyproject2021@gmail.com.
Announcements
The Quincy Rotary Golf Tournament, slated for Saturday, May 18 at Plumas Pines, already has 21 teams committed. So, if you want to be part of a team, sign-up ASAP. Johnny Mansell is the Rotarian to talk to.

And, speaking of the Golf Tournament - the number 1 Quincy Rotary Fundraiser - remember it is all Rotarians on deck unless you are playing golf. Which means, calendar May 18 and be prepared to work all day! It is fun and it is worth it!
This Monday's Speech Contest
Rotary International's 2024 theme is "Create Hope in The World." The theme of Rotary District 5190 is "Rotary From The Heart." These themes merged to create the 2024 Rotary Speech Contest theme and prompt, "Rotary is a volunteer organization. How have you volunteered towards promoting HOPE in the world, and how did you see HEARTs impacted through the experience?"

This Monday, March 11, four Quincy High School students will answer these questions when they compete in Quincy Rotary's annual Speech Contest. Don't miss it. It's a treat to hear the insights and experiences of young people.
