Welcome to another issue of our bulletin! Find out who was our speaker last week, who are upcoming speakers are, and how we are celebrating the lives of Rotarians we have lost.
We Are What We Eat
Rotarian, college instructor of agriculture, and cattle rancher, Rick Leonhardt, convinced us at Monday's meeting that when domestic livestock graze on healthy soil, their by-product is healthier for human consumption. In his presentation on Regenerative Agriculture and How it Effects Human Health, Rick demonstrated a connection between sustainable agriculture systems, the nutrient quality of foods and human health. The good news is that we can eat red meat often (if we can afford it). When Rick talks, the audience listens and asks good questions.
If you missed Monday, stay tuned when Rick returns next year to give an update on his research.
Fond Farewell
The community came out in mass to say goodbye to David W. on Saturday. Rotary planned to honor David by presenting his children Paul Harris Fellow awards, but the opportunity did not occur. That will happen, hopefully, at the Greenhorn Ranch evening social on Monday, Sept. 28. Calendar the date - 5 pm.
Chief Frank brought a crew of volunteers from Quincy Fire Department to set up for Saturday's memorial along with the help of several Rotarians organized by Darren.
Rotarians Johnny and Mark wore their Rotary swag in honor of David's devotion to Quincy Rotary.
Rotarians were ever present in the crowd that came to say good-bye to David.
Plumas Hospice
For over 20 years, Plumas Hospice has provided end-of-life support and guidance to patients and families, at no cost. At next Monday's meeting, when we return to the Mineral Building at the fairgrounds, meet some of the volunteers who guide patients and loved ones through this last chapter of life. They will answer your difficult questions and discuss additional services.
Goodbye Jon
Saturday, Aug. 15, at the Morrison Barn, 3 pm, Rotarian Jon Curnow will be remembed. Bring a dish to share, and a warm heart for the family he left behind.
