Oakland Camp in the Plumas Heartland
Thanks Lisa K. for scheduling a remote presentation from Oakland Feather River Camp's Executive Director, Yasi Safinya, and Director of Development and Marketing, Melissa Birdwell-Marchi. A neat bit of trivia is that Yasi spent much of her youth attending the camp. The women provided details about the upcoming summer season and invited Rotarians to visit camp when it opens. OFRC offers family camp, camperships, partnerships, rentals, and a base camp.
The camp has operated since 1924, when the city of Oakland signed a long-term lease with the U.S. Forest Service. Oakland's goal was to establish a summer camp retreat in the mountains for its citizens to enjoy. Early on, the train brought folks from the city to the campsite.
If you are interested in learning more about the facility, go to featherrivercamp.com which has plenty of information. Or take a drive down Chandler Road and turn right after the one-lane bridge. Or better yet, ride your bike. It's a beautiful place in the heart of Plumas County.

Quincy Star Follies is Coming to the Town Hall Theatre
See a sneak preview of Quincy Star Follies at Rotary on Mon., April 13. I believe we are meeting a the Town Hall Theatre on that date. That will be confirmed.
The show itself is filled with Rotarians dancing and lip-syncing. Catch John Sheehan, Kevin Trutna, Wendy Yates, and of course former Quincy Rotary Prez, Lisa Kelly. Be prepared to be dazzled by the performances which range in age from 8 to 80! The shows are Fri., April 17 and Sat., April 18 - 2 shows both days. Pick 5:30 or 8 pm.
Easter Monday
Apparently Easter Monday is a "thing" so no Rotary next week. See you at the Area Speech and Music Contest, and/or the Area Foundation Dinner, or the following Monday, April 13 for a Follies Preview!
