Ad Hoc Speaker
John S. stepped in as Monday's speaker when the scheduled speaker, Bill Jacks, stepped out due to illness. Jacks is the Executive Director of Terra Fuego Resource Foundation which John knows a lot about.
Terra Fuego works with public and private land owners to reduce forest fire fuel, increase defensible space, and implement strategic fuel breaks on property to help manage fire.
John shared a film of a recent prescribed burn in the area surrounding Quincy High School. Side-note, Quincy Rotarian, Rick Foster, generously funded the filming of the video.
John also talked about the importance of developing partnerships with key fire prevention players like the U.S. Forest Service, Cal Fire and local fire departments.
Ad Hoc John did a terrific job at explaining a complex problem which is a primary concern in Plumas County - fire prevention.

Fond Farewell
On Monday, Quincy Rotary bid goodbye to Exchange Student Joaquin who is headed home to Argentina. He made us remember the importance of the Rotary Youth Exchange Program. QR thanks his host family, the Dupras, for making this exchange a reality when plans changed unexpectedly.
Whether Short-term or Long-term, Rotary YouthExchange is a catalyst for service, cultural understanding, and lifelong connection to Rotary.
