QR Board Meeting - Plumas Bank, Quincy
Rancher Rick - Roots Run Deep
On Monday, one of QR's best presentations was on a day that few Rotarians were present! Yes, last year Rick talked about Regenerative Ag but Monday's talk was way different. If you were there, you would now understand why fellow Rotarian Rick L. is one of the most popular instructors at Feather River College. He does his homework, is
passionate and isn't stuffy about his field of agriculture.
Rick’s roots run deep as a third generation Plumas County cattleman. He now moonlights as a rancher and implements several of the practices that Regenerative Ag encourages like adaptative grazing. Rick explained that farming and ranching starts with the soil which, when healthy, produces healthier food. Simply put, Regenerative Agriculture is "Farming and ranching in synchrony with nature to repair, rebuild, revitalize and restore ecosystem function starting with all life in the soil and moving to all life above the soil."
Rick brought photos and data gleaned from his ranching experience in Quincy. The data was compelling and prompted so many questions that the meeting ran until 1:30! By then, those in attendance clearly saw the benefits of Regenerative Ag creating ecosystem health, economic health, and nutritional health.
Tour of SPI
The Reno Sunrise Rotary is coming for a tour of SPI's Quincy sawmill on Monday. David Little has invited Quincy Rotary as well. Meet at the sawmill office at 9:30 am. Please plan for about two hours and wear close-toed shoes.
Then Reno Sunrise Rotary will be joining Quincy Rotary for lunch after the tour. So if you can't make the morning activity, plan on attending the QR lunch. Let's impress the power of Quincy Rotary!
