Feather River College Rodeo Coach, Tess Turk, is speaking at Rotary on Monday, September 19 so pull out your western wear!

Last Monday's Speakers
The top photo captures Quincy Rotary's impressive choices for the 2022 RYLA - Rotary Youth Leadership Awakening (Award) - held this summer at Grizzly Creek Ranch. The students who spoke at Monday's meeting included QHS Seniors Savannah Little (daughter of Rotarian David Little), Dylan Miller, Aidan Powers, and Michael Oravetz.
In addition, a 2014 RYLA Alumni from Quincy, Ava Hagwood (daughter of Rotarian Greg Hagwood) spoke about her experience as a 2022 Learning Facilitator which she said was a fancy term for camp counselor. Ava in lower photo is shown with QHS principal Jennifer Scheel who accompanied the Seniors to the club meeting.
Monday's speakers shared remarkable stories about their experiences at camp and were grateful to Quincy Rotary for providing scholarships for them to participate. Michael said that he was "nervous to go initially, but realized everyone else was too." He learned that there is power in having confidence when no one else does and that you can't always surround yourself only with people you know. Savannah learned to be more comfortable in an uncomfortable situation. Aidan realized his own leadership style. Dylan realized he was a leader. And Ava continues to lead and work with young people in her role as a Plumas County Social Worker.
Rotary creates leaders and all of these young people are a testament to Rotary's good work.
