Quincy Rotary celebrated the spirit of community on Monday by welcoming local artisans and entrepreneurs, including Quincy Provisions, Lost Sierra Food Project, photographer Kim Carroll, and Liz Swindell from Plumas Arts and Wild Pines, who brought their exceptional holiday products to share! Buy local is not just a slogan, it is an aspiration. As Amy Carey puts it, "You are living in your community, so you need to be giving to your community."
Case in point, Liz donated all her sales on Monday to Ingrid Burke & Family who experienced a tragic accident recently. Amy and her business partner Susan at Quincy Provisions cooked a hot Thanksgiving supper for a family of six who otherwise could afford none. Vanessa of Lost Sierra Food Project sold cool bandanas, raising $$ for scholarships to a kids summer farm camp. Kim Carroll founded Main Street Girls Against MS, raising money and awareness about the dreaded disease.
The point is: giving back is an excellent way to move forward. But you Rotarians already know this.

Liz Swindell wore 2 hats on Monday bringing products from Plumas Arts where she is the Assistant Director and from Graeagle's Wild Pines where she is the owner.

Sierra Bella Sutherlands
Scott and Shandel Sutherland are not caterers, but they filled in on Monday for Caron C. who was on vacation. Their food and Christmasy display fit the theme of the day - Buy Local, especially during the holidays!
The Sutherlands operate Sierra Bella Lanes - Quincy's newly renovated bowling alley. With vintage wooden lanes, the bowling alley also offers a restaurant with excellent beers on tap to pair with good food.
Book your Holiday Party at the Alley - or book a party for birthdays, graduations, and family reunions in the Party Room or, when the weather is warmer, outside. Scott and Shandel have re-created a welcoming "recreational" space in the community.
Bell Ringing is Back!
Spots are filling fast for the coveted Salvation Army Bell Ringing positions. Ring in some Holiday Cheer at the Post Office, Safeway or Sav Mor over the next 2 weeks. Sign-up with Jim and Gloria Boland and jingle all the way for a good cause!
