Quincy Rotary,
Thank you so much for your generous donation; here’s one of the wells completed with Rotary funds. It was officially turned over to the water committee of the village to manage the well use on behalf of the community on August 11th of 2023.
The photo on the right shows the women in the community carrying water on top of their heads back to their home. The women have incredible balance. Each jerry weighs over 8 pounds.
The guys on the drilling crew manually dig down to 60 to 70 feet below ground surface and then install concrete rings to keep the well open and the water clean. And then they seal the top with a concrete pad and install a pump so everything is sealed and there is a clean groundwater source.
