Invest in the Fair
No. High Sierra Music Festival will not be returning to the Plumas County Fairgrounds. How do I know this fact? My daughter told me. This is not just a rumor. My daughter, Katie Reid Harris, in her new position as Plumas Fair and Fairgrounds Event Director, called management in High Sierra and asked why they left and won't return. Enough lodging was one reason.
At any rate, Katie was Quincy Rotary's speaker at last week's meeting. She seems determined to find other income streams to fill the void left by the music festival. She sees that the community wants the fair and will support the fair. It's tricky since the fair's budget is part of the County's general fund, which Katie says is not ideal. It needs to generate its own income.
How can we as leaders of community help? One excellent step is invest in the Fair Foundation as they fund improvements at the grounds.

District Gov Comes to Quincy Rotary
Originally scheduled to visit on Monday, Sept. 14, District 5190 Governor, Kurt Rafetto, comes to Quincy Rotary on Monday, Oct. 19. As I mentioned in my past notes on the DG in the Bulletin,
"Kurt hails from the Rotary Club of Placerville.
If you wondered about the logo in our Bulletin title with the message “Aim High With Rotary” encircling the red airplane, well Kurt retired from 23 years in the US Air Force. He was a co-pilot, aircraft commander, and instructor pilot. His wife retired as a Colonel from the Air Force Reserves. Planes figure strongly in his DNA."
In addition, at the meeting, Lisa K. is shooting our 2026/2027 Club Photo - You must be present to appear in the photo.
Wear Rotary blues and whites. The Fall Colors will Pop in the background!
