Greenhorn Social
The term Greenhorn harks back to the Old West, and that's where Quincy Rotary was transported at Monday's Social. Unfortunately, not many Rotarians made it to what was an excellent meet and greet at Greenhorn Ranch. For those who did attend they witnessed the school board candidate for Area 5, Matthew De La Montanya, share a riveting story about why he joined the California Highway Patrol. The presentation sparked lots of discussion.
Also, Greenhorn Ranch's Chef Brian spoke about the BBQ dinners open to the public on Friday nights, along with possible Sunday picnics for the public next year. Take a tip from me who took family to the Friday BBQ's a couple of times - we had a blast swimming, fishing, karaoke-ing and eating.
CHP Officer Matthew De La Montanya is running for Plumas Unified School District – Trustee Area 5. Matt's opponent is Keith Barnett, a General Contractor. Barnett did not attend Monday's Social.
Richard and Rick were engrossed by Matt's heartfelt talk.
Others, as well, were captivated by the talk.

Next Monday, Oct. 6, is the Club Photo Op (old photo to the right). Wear Rotary Swag or blue if you don't have any swag.
We were planning on snapping a photo at the Greenhorn Social but not enough members were there.

Lisa, wearing her hat as fundraising chair of the FRC Foundation, along with Christopher, Director of Plumas Arts, speak about their combined Fun(d)raising event, Gallery in the Woods, slated for the following Saturday, Oct. 11.
