Maiduk We'ye
Trina Cunningham - QR's Monday Speaker - introduced her non-profit, Maiduk We'ye which is Maidu for The People's Voice. Her goal is to create a dynamic tribal organization that revitalizes Maidu culture in Plumas County. The Maidu Tribe is not federally recognized though segments of it, like the Round House Council, are. That tribal status is "confusing and complex," says Trina. Management of tribal lands and water, law and policies are muddied. For instance, "cultural burning" is legal now, but not long ago, Maidu were forbidden that right. Tribal members were beaten if they spoke Maidu so the language was almost forgotten.
Trina is an avatar of change. She is a quiet spoken force who effects transformation which only stands to enhance Plumas County in the future.

The Quincy Rotary Holiday Party promises to surprise - so says party planner Lisa K. She hinted at bringing a guest performer to the festivities!

Salzburg Rotary Connection
Quincy Rotarian Johnny Mansell's journey to Europe last month with his family took him to Christmas Markets, where he chanced upon a booth sponsored by the Rotary Club of Salzburg, and connected with two Rotarians, as shown in the photo.
His travels showcase the power of Rotary, connecting people worldwide and proving that it's a small world after all.
