A Local's Life Changed by RYLA
On Monday, Quincy hometown boy, Riley DuPont shared his experience as both a Rotary Youth Leadership Awakening (RYLA) participant selected by Quincy Rotary in 2015, as well as a 2023 RYLA Learning Facilitator. RYLA changed Riley’s life. RYLA was his best high school experience. RYLA was a challenging but rewarding program, and Riley will return as a facilitator this year.
Riley is a graduate of QHS, FRC and Washington State University. He went on a Rotary Exchange to Australia when he was a sophomore at QHS. Currently he works as a firefighter and paramedic for the Yocha Dehe Fire Department in Capay Valley where he commutes five times a month. Riley chooses to live in Quincy where he is an active member of the volunteer Fire Department.
Honesty, Integrity, and Longitudinal Commitment are RYLA takeaways. Currently, Quincy Rotary is accepting applications for high school juniors to fill the two 2025 openings. RYLA has two sessions scheduled for June 15-20 and June 22-27 at Grizzley Creek Ranch in Portola, CA. If you know of exceptional candidates who are seeking a challenging and rewarding experience, give them an application.
Calendar these Dates!
Join in the Area Music and Speech Contests, scheduled Saturday March 8 at Portola's Methodist Church. Check the time. Cheer on our winners Speaker Matthew and Musician Fisher.
Plan on attending the Foundation Dinner, April 18. The local to be determined.
The Golf Tournament is Saturday, May 17. Tee signs need selling at $110.
