Preparing for a Disaster
The Plumas County Office of Emergency Services sent their management team - Travis Goings and Lori Pini - to Monday's meeting to get Quincy Rotary prepared for any disasters.
Here are some of their safety steps Travis and Lori shared:
1. Get alerts to know what to do (see info on genasys below).
2. Make a plan to protect your people.
3. Pack a Go Bag with things you need like keys, important papers, medications.
4. Build a Stay Box for when you can't leave.
5. Help friends and neighbors get ready.
FYI - if you have the Red Alert app, get rid of it; it is redundant. The new system Plumas County uses is Genasys. The County uses the GEM notification system to alert you about issues that may affect your safety such as wildfires. To sign up, log into the Plumas County homepage:
David Little brought his friends to work! He hosted Quincy Rotary and guests from Reno Sunrise Rotary for a tour of Quincy's SPI lumber mill, observing logs arrive from the forest and being processed into lumber wrapped and ready for consumers.
David and Matt Taborski shared the history of Sierra Pacific Industries which is the second-largest lumber producer in the U.S.
Luck of the Irish
Andy returned from a trip to his family's homeland of Ireland, where he and Michelle hiked the green hills, dales, and coastline. This thoughtful Rotarian brought back some lucky coasters incribed with the Irish surnames of some Quincy Rotarians - Tim Gallagher, John Sheehan, Mike Flanigan, Beth Reid and Andy (Egan) Ryback!

Welcome a New Member
Welcome our newest Quincy Rotarian - Mark Leonhardt - son of Chuck. Mark already has jumped into QR by walking in the Fair Parade with us, helping at the Community Supper, and meeting and greeting the Reno Sunrise Rotary Club and touring SPI. And his son Matt was our 2024 Speech Contest winner.
