REGL Weekend
Andy and David L. wrangled the group of 8th graders at REGL - Rotary Eighth Grade Leadership - as they arrived at Grizzly Creek Ranch last weekend. REGL is an intense, challenging program, sponsored by California and Nevada Rotary Districts 5180 and 5190. The program is designed to create passion, resilience, determination, mental toughness, gratitude, and compassion. REGL instills in the 8th graders the value of Service Above Self, a core Rotary belief.
Show Us the Money
Kris Kurpjuweit handed a $10,000 check to President Lisa which is the amount raised by Quincy Rotary at this spring's ice, cold Golf Tournment.
The annual fun-raiser, QR's biggest money maker, is the means by which QS can contribute to our many projects. For example, the REGL Weekend is made possible by our golfers. Also, for over 20 years, QR has contributed to the African Water Well project. With QR's 2023 $1000 donation, the project will be able to build a 4th water well this spring 2024.

Last Week's Speakers - Here Comes the Sun
Speakers, James Wilson and Cheryl Kolb, represented Plumas Sun the online news platform built to replace Plumas News as it sun-setted. They, along with the mostly volunteer staff, felt that a trusted, non-biased news source was vital to the community. In a short time, and tremendous work, Plumas Sun has grown and blossomed.
The only paid staff include editor-in-chief, Jane Braxton Little, Eastern Plumas reporter, Lauren Westmoreland, formerly of Plumas News, and Andrea Singer, Indian Valley reporter, also from Plumas News.
Thanks to the help of Rotarian Judge Doug Prouty, PS can post Legal Notices. Also being published are Road Conditions, Marriage Licenses, Birth Announcements, and Obits, as well as a fan favorite – the Sheriff’s Blotter!
The online paper is a non-profit, housed under the Almanor Foundation, who, under its many initiatives, pays the bills thus far. Because of the non-profit status, it can't have "paid" ads. However, the paper is accepting sponsorships. The minimum sponsorship is for 4 weeks and costs from $50 to $100 per week. Donations are accepted as well and may be disbursed over 12 months like a regular subscription. Go to Plumassun.org to donate or to become a Plumas Sun Sponsor.
Mullets of the Week
