The Plumas Sun staff spoke at Quincy Rotary - Becca Stewart, Sponsorship & Marketing, Lalini Pedris, Disaster Recovery Reporter, Jane Braxton Little, Editor-in-Chief and Managing editor & Reporter Lindsay Morton. They reminded us of the importance of a free, (including AI free) Press is to a community.
For almost three years, The Plumas Sun has delivered free, fact-based coverage of local news, government and events of Plumas County.
Now they need our help by way of donations. Their goal is to raise $15,000 to meet expenses over the coming year. Their staff includes nearly a dozen part-time freelancers writing stories that inform us, make us think, and showcase what’s unique about this county.

What a stellar Saturday for the Quincy Rotary Annual Golf Tournament at Plumas Pines, where community spirit shone bright! Kudos to Kim Navarro (who isn't in Rotary) and Lisa Lester for fueling the excitement with mulligan and raffle ticket sales, Sheila Vargas (who isn't in Rotary) for working from morning until the bitter end, and hats off to the dynamic organizers Rick Leonhardt, Mike Summerfield, Johnny Mansell, Mike Taborski, and the tireless Rotarian volunteers!
We heard Justin Barker's team won the tourney. Two Zacks were on his team, but that's all I know.
Lisa L. takes a moment to relax after a busy morning selling raffle tickets which, by the way, brings $$$ directly into our coffers along with Tee Sign sales.
Billy Melms + Andy R. teamed with Ty Herbertson + Tiffany Panfili shooting an Eagle on #4. Tiffany's drive got them close. Bill's shot landed them 4 feet from the hole. Then they sunk the putt with 2 under.
