Plumas County Tourism
Shannon Greer, Executive Director of Plumas County Tourism, spoke to Quincy Rotary last Monday. The organization's purpose is to put "heads in the beds" in local motels, hotels, inns, B&B's, and resorts - in other words, a Destination Marketer.

The 2nd fastest growing industry in the US
9% of global GDP
Spending on lodging is outpacing family GDP
1980 – 2014 spending on lodging increased 200% while per capita income increased only 75%
Plumas County Tourism works with the lodging providers of the Lake Almanor Basin, Indian Valley, Feather River Canyon, Quincy and Bucks Lake to improve and develop the tourism economy of our communities.

Water Wells in Africa
This Monday's speaker, Dr. Cathy Fitzgerald has a Ph.D. in Engineering, with a strong background in hydrology. Over the past 20 years, Dr. Fitzgerald, with Quincy Rotary’s financial support, has been leading teams to locate suitable drilling sites, drilling water wells by hand, and installing low tech pump systems in Kenyan villages. Typically, well sites are placed in village squares for communal use, school sites and medical facilities. The wells are low tech for simplicity and availability of replacement parts, but also to keep the costs manageable. Quincy Rotary continually has budgeted $1000 towards the well project. Red Badge (of Courage)
CHP Officer Ryan Pedersen received his red badge from Jeb at Monday's meeting. Ryan is an enthusiastic new Rotarian. Nice to have him as a QR member.

Mark Leonhardt inherited the Golf Tournament Tee Sign sales from his dad Chuck. Must say he is doing a great job and his message is kinder and gentler. Now we better sell at least 100 signs!
