Millie:  Born in San Francisco, raised in Pacifica and then moved often when married (Southern Cal, Sacramento, Idaho, Pacifico and Livermore).  Joined the Livermore Rotary Club in 2000, served as President, and climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro in 2007 with Rotarians.  She worked with both law enforcement and City Hall in Livermore and moved to the area 5 years ago when she retired.  She is now an avid golfer.

Bob:  Was born in Casper, WY and grew up in Grand Junction on a farm.  He moved to San Francisco and Denver and then met his wife in Seattle 45 years ago.  He studied Marine Biology in college but ended up with a degree (and nearly a Masters) in Anthropology.  He is a second-degree black belt.

John:  Grew up in Escondido and met his wife at the beach when they were 14 and 13.  He enlisted in the Navy during the Cuban Missile Crisis and then owned 3 tire stores in San Diego County.  He is still happily married after 64 years, and they have 2 daughters who both live here in Nevada.  John was introduced to Rotary by his father and has been in Rotary for 43 years.  His favorite project was an orphanage his Escondido Rotary club supported south of Tijuana.  His passion is hotrods.

Sam:  Was born in Douglas, AZ and grew up in San Leandro and Livermore.  His dad was a professional Boy Scout leader and a Rotarian, so he grew up at Rotary events.  In the summers, his dad was the Camp Director at a Camp outside of Yosemite, so Sam has grown up outside - fishing, camping, hiking and completed a mile swim in the cold river at age 13.  His first job was a paper route in Livermore where he had 189 customers 4 days a week for 10 years.  In high school, he played basketball, tennis and was the first male cheerleader - at the prompting of the girl next door who ended up being his wife.  He was the President of the Livermore Rotary club following Millie.

Jim: Grew up with a father who was a firefighter, so the family moved 11 times - resulting in 3 different high schools.  They spent the most amount of time in Las Vegas.  He met his wife a year before law school.  Her parents had died a year before and so they raised her 3 siblings - ages 5, 11 and 14.  After law school, they settled in Vegas where Jim worked with an Insurance Defense firm and then Clarke County Defenders office.  After hearing the criminal stories in Clarke County, they decided to move to Minden where “front page news was that a tree had grown over a stop sign”.  He and his wife had 4 more kids and all 7 call him “Kimo” instead of Dad.  “Kimo” means Jim in the Hawaiian language and is a a name of affection which avoids having to use the formal terms of grandfather,  step grandfather, father-in-law, etc.

June:  Born in Bakersfield and moved all over California before settling in Orange County.  She met her husband and told him she didn’t want to move ever again - so they stayed in their home for over 37 years before moving to Genoa.  She has 2 kids (one here and one in Texas) and 4 grandkids.  She has been a real estate broker and has worked at UC Irvine.  Her focus is now on her puppies.

Pam:  Moved to California from Pennsylvania and was raised on a mushroom farm in Almaden.  In 1982, she met her husband and they moved to Lake Tahoe where she spent 42 years in banking.  Pam “loved the customers but not the employees”.  Her loves are her husband, two dogs, two horses and Rotary.

Dick:  Grew up in Belleview, WA and attended the University of Washington where he was part of ROTC.  He was a 2nd LIeutenant in the Marines and is a Vietnam Veteran.  He practiced law in San Diego County for 30 years, focusing on Real Property Law.  Dick moved to Minden in 2013 because of the people and the proximity to the Lake.

Ginger:  Born in Montebella, CA.  At 17 she married and started a family but divorced soon after.  She then went to Fullerton College to become a legal secretary.  She married her boss, Tom, at the law firm she worked at and then went back to school receiving a BA and then an MS at age 40.  She then taught English at Cal State Fullerton.  They moved to the area in 2002 when her husband retired.  There is a 17-year gap between her first and second set of kids.

Tony:  Was a good athlete in high school - known for his speed and not size.  He went on to play football at a 2-year college and then at the University of Minnesota in Mankato (original home of the Minnesota Vikings training camp!)  Tony has a wife and 3 sons.

Ken:  Grew up in central AZ on a cotton farm, learning to drive a tractor at age 13 and assist the crop dusters at age 14 (earning a raise from $.70/hour to $2.50/hour).  The family moved to Reno his senior year in high school.  He joined the Navy and met his wife 52 years ago.  Five years ago, when he started losing loved ones, he started a business in which he assists people with assets and financials in an estate.  He has been in Rotary for 42 years because he enjoys giving to others.

Bill Kirby (Carson City club):  A Washington State native, from Bellingham.  He went to Western Washington for undergrad and graduate school at the University of Kansas (Lawrence).  He has worked for the KS Department of Health as well as jobs in Yuma, Phoenix, Bend, Yakima and Wenatchee.  He joined Rotary in 1997 and was President of his club in 2012-13.  Two years ago, he retired from the State after 21 years.

Lori:  Born in MN and received her BA from the U of WI.  She worked as a CPA in Milwaukee, Chicago, San Francisco, Oakland and San Jose with Big 8 CPA firms then went on to do tax work for Oracle (software) and Nellcor (medical devices).  She met her husband and moved to Eureka, CA in 1997 where she switched from the CPA world to education.  After teaching high school accounting, marketing and entrepreneurship for 7 years, she spent the next 15 years in school administration.  She was President of the Arcata Sunrise Rotary in 2007/8.  She and her husband retired in 2022 and moved to Gardnerville to be closer to their 4 daughters.
