JOIN is celebrating 50 years since their creation. The organization trains Nevadans for Careers. They are largely funded by Federal and State funding. These funds help cover education tuition and on the job training / wage reimbursement. JOIN serves all 13 Nevada counties and the Tahoe Basin. They have a staff of 24 individuals and 5 board members.
JOIN's support of Career Seekers (17 - 100 years old) includes Career Exploration, Career Training (up to 2 years certification to AA degree) and Career Guidance (up to 12 months after employment).
JOIN's support of Employers includes On the Job Training, Salary repayment (up to 12 months - or more if continued training) and Job Opportunity Awareness (job openings posted on the website).

How can you get involved? Donate financially, donate in kind (such as an auction gift for the raffle at the golf tournament on 5/17/2024) and/or spread the word! JOIN has also launched a car donation program where donated cars are turned around to provide low-cost transportation for their clients.
Denise Castle Bio:
Denise is an 18-year Douglas County resident originally from the Pacific Northwest. She was not able to attend University when she was younger which created a passion for training. She is a strong believer that education is the core for breaking poverty.

Semi Annual Dues Due
Invoices have been sent out for the semi-annual Club dues ($163). Your dues include membership to Rotary International, District 5190, Minden Rotary Club and a subscription to Rotarian Magazine. Claudia Galula, President of the Smith Valley Rotary joined our meeting this week. She met Marsha at PETS (President Elect Training). Claudi has loved watercolor since childhood. She presented Marsha with a beautiful watercolor of a horse which she created for the auction at our golf tournament in May 2024. She also shared information about the Car Show sponsored by her club. The Smith Valley Rotary Club meets Thursday at 6pm and we are all invited anytime!

Dick - Traveled from Reno to Chicago via train over two days and shared that the food was great! He spent 2 nights in Chicago before traveling to Mackinaw Island in Michigan where he went fly fishing and antiquing.
Heidi - Traveled to Chicago for a 9-day conference and then went to Traverse City, Michigan and back to Chicago for a 3-day music festival.
