Minden Rotary Grant Awards Supporting Carson Valley Community
March 28, 2024 Meeting

Carson Valley nonprofits and community organizations were awarded a total of $13,858.90 by the Minden Rotary Club at the March 28th meeting:

Suicide Prevention Network, the only suicide prevention network in Northern NV, was awarded $1,427.36 to help with marketing and outreach of the program. Sponsored by Rotarian Heidi Saucedo.

Douglas High School Automotive Class received $1,887.88 for the purchase of two tool cabinets to organize the classroom. This program is a dual-credit program with DHS and WNC. Sponsored by Rotarian Howard Vipperman.

Gardnerville Elementary School will use the funds for their “Creating Builds Language” program in the Kindergarten class. The $791.41 will be used for gardening, building and structured playing. Sponsored by Rotarian Pat Garrahan.

Kids and Horses Therapeutic Riding Center received $2,000 which they will use for their Stable Moments program This inter-active program focuses on foster and adopted children in the Carson Valley. Sponsored by Rotarian Pam Pugliese.

China Spring Youth Camp, serves troubled teens serving 15 of the 16 NV counties (Clark County has its own facility), received $2,052.25 to support the Challenge Course, a ropes and zip line configuration. Funds will cover inspections and instruction/training for staff. Sponsored by Rotarian Howard Vipperman.

Horses and Humans received $2,000 to fund programs for 17-24 year olds to strengthen leadership and life skills, confidence building and emotional support to take them into adulthood. Funds will be used to bring in additional instructors and horses. Sponsored by Rotarian Pam Pugliese.

Douglas County Recreation Department received $3,700 to support the 8-outdoor Pickleball courts. Funds will go towards buying benches, umbrellas and other goods for the outdoor space. Breakfast coordinated and led by Rotarian Sam Steele.

Funds distributed to local community groups were from Minden Rotary’s 3rd Annual Giving Cup Golf Tournament and the 2024 Super Bowl Pancake Breakfast. You can help support our at-risk youth by supporting the 4th Annual Giving Cup Golf Tournament set for May 18, 2024 at Genoa Lakes. NEW HOURS FOR ROTARY MEETING
The meetings will run 11:30 am to 1:00 pm; with lunch and networking 11:30-12 and business/speakers from 12-1pm.

May 18  - 4th Annual Minden Rotary Giving Cup Golf Tournament.
 
May 27 - Vietnam Wall - Rotary will help set up and tear down
