As a Clinical Social Worker working with Rite of Passage, the School District, and most recently in private practice, Jeanette Bostedt works with families in need in the Carson Valley,   And even though social services and other agencies helped provide for these families, there were still needs going unmet.  And so she, and a group of friends (Grace Pipken, Sierra Meszanos, Tara Van Paten, Alondra Munoz and Ed Sart), formed a non-profit organization in 2025 to create "pathways to safety and security for families". called Carson Valley Magic.
 
CVM operates on a third party referral basis from social workers, school personnel and others.  For each referral, the board votes if the requested need fits the mission and vision of CVM.  The recipient must live in the Carson Valley.  If approved, the organization pays the vendor directly.  For example, recently, a local family experienced car troubles.  CVM approved a repair bill at Douglas Radiator and the family now has a working vehicle.  CVM partners with Social Services and is mindful not to duplicate their services - car repair was not a service Social Services could offer.  As an added bonus, "...all of the money CVM spends goes right back into the local community".
 
Bostedt shared with the Minden Rotary Club that their income so far has come from the Giving Tree ($5,000), Rotary ($2,000) and various donations from Family Trusts and individuals.  They are organizing their first fundraiser - a Karaoke Cookout Competition- on October 10th from 4-8pm at Flutter and Buzz in Genoa.  Coco's & Mo's will cater the barbeque which will be family friendly.  The karaoke winner will receive half of the funds raised.  For more information, visit carsonvalleymagic.org.

July 31 - Genoa Wine Walk, The Genoa Gallery

August 1, 11am-2pm - Young at Heart Summer BBQ.  Fundraiser for Senior Programs.  Tickets $10 presale or $15 at the door.  Live Music, raffle, outdoor games.

August 27 - Club social at Aces baseball game. They play the River Cats. Tickets behind home plate are $55.

August 28 - Hotdogs at Minden Concerts in the Park - 2 shifts each time, 4-6P and 6-8P.

October 10 - Chili Cook Off/ Fundraiser - Graham is looking for chili recipes
