Kory Miller joined the Minden Rotary club in May of 2024. Her introduction to Rotary came through two sources - her father-in-law who was a Rotarian in Delaware as well as her friend and current Minden Rotary President Marsha Leeg.
Kory is a fourth generation St. Louisan. Her parents met in the church choir there and she grew up in the 50’s in what she recalled was an ideal time with Bonanza and Ed Sullivan every Sunday night. Her parents named her Korliss Lee because she was their “love child” carelessly conceived!
She studied Fine Arts and Psychology in college and went into Interior Design. Fifty-four years ago Kory met Architect/builder Gantt Miller as a blind date. They will be celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary in July with a Mediterranean fall cruise given by their three sons. Gantt will also be joining the Minden Rotary Club.
Their U-Haul Honeymoon landed them in Virginia and then West Virginia for 13 years where they built their first of six apartment complexes. Kory’s immigrant grandfather, who coincidentally was also a builder and architect started Winco Window Company in St. Louis. It is now being run by Gantt and the 4th generation of Kory’s family. Their oldest son lives in Tahoe (the reason they moved to the Carson Valley). He is an independent representative for the window company. Their middle son is in charge of operations there. And their youngest son is an organic farmer north of Toulouse in France. They have 5 grandchildren – three boys and one girl in Lake Tahoe and one boy in France. Kory and Gantt still travel to St. Louis, West Virginia, Virginia and Delaware frequently to attend to their businesses, which include a B & B in Odessa, Delaware located between Wilmington and Dover.
Kory has served on many boards throughout the years. She enjoys playing golf, tennis, and Mah Jongg when not traveling for business or to see family.
