The "Rotary Roar for Youth Auction" is our primary fundraiser. We pay for Jennifer Purdy Scholarships, RYLA, Student of the Quarter, and Youth Exchange with the proceeds - and this year we are splitting them 50/50 with the Art and Recreation Center (ARC).

Silent Auction Attendants - silent auction runs from 5:00 - 7:00; need 4-6 to work 1 hour shifts
Gaming Attendant
- assist the dealer in any way (gopher); 5:00 - 7:00, 4 people to work 1 hour each
Reader
- take a turn reading item descriptions for the auctioneer; 7:30 for 1/2 hour

Items Needed
We are in need of a few more good items for the auction. If you have items to turn in, please e-mail the donation form and let me know where it an be picked up. Bigger items can be delivered to Ramada the morning of the auction, but we need the information to print in the program.
Our exchange student, Martin, needs a ride to and from the District Conference on April 28. Martin will need to be there from 8:00 am to 2:30 pm. The event takes place at Faranda's Banquet Center, in DeKalb, IL. United States.

It is with deep regret that I announce that Roy Clingman has passed. His obituary:
"Roy Clingman, 89, of Galena, IL passed away Tuesday, April 10, 2018, at Prairie Ridge, Galena. Funeral service will be 11 AM, Saturday, April 14, 2018, at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church, Galena. The family will greet friends beginning at 10 AM at the church prior to the service. Friends may call from 4 to 7 PM, Friday, April 13, 2018, at the Furlong Funeral Chapel, Galena. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Galena. Roy was born on March 2, 1929, the son of Charles and Helen (Long) Clingman in Oelwein, IA. On August 30, 1953, he was united in marriage to Joan Smith in State Center, IA and she preceded him in death on May 30, 2009. Roy graduated from the University of Iowa in 1954 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy. He put his heart and soul into his own business – Clingman Pharmacy, Galena from 1958 until 1994. He continued working there for his daughter Connie Consedine and her husband Dan until his retirement in 2006. Roy was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and mentor. Roy loved family, work, church and community with extraordinary passion. He served on many boards in Galena throughout his life and helped to support numerous projects to make the city of Galena what it is today. Surviving are his three children Connie (Dan) Consedine, of Galena, Jon (Julie) Clingman of Vinton, Iowa, and Doug (Lea) Clingman of Roswell, Georgia; five grandchildren, Eileen Consedine, Megan Drew, Madison Kemp, Emma May and Abigail Clingman; two sisters-law, Delores Meadows, of Superior, WI and Marian Kormanik, of Bloomington, MN; and three great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, a brother Wayne and a sister Althea Lenz. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to The Galena Foundation or The Galena ARC in memory of Roy."
The Rotary Club of Galena will be purchasing a table for the upcoming Riverview Center fundraising event. Anyone interested in attending should contact Andy Willis right away - seating is limited.
The Rotary Club of Galena recently donated $1,000.00 to the Galena Foundation for their Grant Park Restoration project. The Galena Foundation has committed to spending $250,000.000 to restore and enhance Grant Park. To date, they have raised about $90,000.00 from the community, $50,000.00 from the City of Galena and $50,000.00 from their own funds for the project.
Have you given your yearly contribution to the Rotary Foundation? Rotary International encourages "every Rotarian" to give $100 "every year" to the Rotary Foundation. Historically, our club has complied - we don't always get "every" member, but those who give more than $100 have always made up the difference.
Why do we give to Rotary International?
Half of the money we give to the Rotary Foundation is returned to our district after three years. That's right, 1/2 of the money we give to the Rotary Foundation comes back to our district to be distributed as grants. District 6420 provides matching grants up to $1,500.00 for club projects.

Sign up on Rotary.org to automatically contribute every month. Just think, $10 per month (we can all afford that) will be deducted automatically. After 12 months, you'll be able to give $100 toward your Paul Harris Fellowship and $20 to Polio Plus!
