Rotarian Carter Newton is headed on another trip to Chile on Saturday, March 18. At Dallas-Ft. Worth Airport he’ll meet family friend and his mom’s former first-grade student, Henry Hartfield. From there they will fly to Santiago, Chile, and then venture up to Combarbalá, where the Rotary Club of Galena has actively supported the work of the RC of Combarbalá since 2004. Henry majored in graphic arts in college and now works for the Hartford Insurance Co. An accomplished artist in various mediums, Henry will work with students and adult community members to help foster their artistic talents. Carter and Henry will send a week in Combarbalá. The Rotary Club of Combarbalá is busy at this time securing the needed art supplies for this project which is estimated to cost between $2,000-$3,000. Carter has been busy raising money so the club can support this project. If you have questions or would like to make a donation, please reach out to Carter at cnewton@galgazette.com. He will give a program to the club at our June 2 meeting. |
