The police department, in partnership with each Rock Island County local law enforcement agency, is set to begin our annual “Citizen’s Police Academy.” The academy consists of 11 weeks of informational and some hands on law enforcement related training that covers many facets of the criminal justice system (LE, Corrections, Courts, etc…).  Attendees also get exposed to communications, Crime Scene Investigations, our tactical units (SWAT operations), and even get some range time. The academy ends with a graduation ceremony generally held at the Rock Island Botanical Center. Feedback from prior attendees has always been very positive and most walk away with an entirely new outlook on the policing profession. The classes meet each Wednesday night from 630-930 PM and they are set to begin on February 2nd, 2022. If you know anybody family/friends that would be interested in participating in our academy, please simply have them complete the attached application and forward it to me. (nwade@moline.il.us).
