UKRAINIAN APPEAL
In response to the deepening humanitarian crisis in Ukraine, The Rotary Foundation has created an official channel for Rotary members around the world to contribute funds to support the relief efforts underway by Rotary Districts and has designated its Disaster Response Fund as the main avenue for contributions.
Contributions to the Disaster Relief Fund in support of Ukraine can be made online at MyRotary.org.
All funds need to be received into the Disaster Response Fund by April 30 in order to qualify for use in support of the Ukrainian relief efforts.
The club announced that our district was able to donate $50,000 to the Rotary Foundation disaster relief fund that will be going to Ukraine.

Dictionaries were delivered!
A big Rotary Thank You to Jenni Swanson who lead the effort this year to deliver free dictionaries to all the 3rd and 4th grade students in the Moline School System!

The addition of MHS Student Rotarians to help with the Dictionary distribution project in Moline schools worked out very well. While we were not able to provide Student Rotarians for every elementary school, 11 Student Rotarians jumped at the chance to participate. They were from 6 different elementary schools.
Gary Francque had 4 Student Rotarians with him at Jane Adams, all former Jane Adams graduates. "They all still have their Rotary dictionaries from 3rd grade, 9 years ago, and they were able to reenforce the usefulness and value of the dictionaries, wrote Gary, "The children were amazed! The elementary students were really thrilled with their older counterparts. The classroom teachers, two of them former 3rd grade teachers of the 4 Student Rotarians, were thrilled to tears at the opportunity to see their former students all grown up and ready to head off to college. The Student Rotarians were so proud to be back at their schools and loved it! It was so touching!"
Kudos to all for making this year's Dictionary Project successful!!

My Water Pledge: Mayor Sangeetha Rayapati asks for our club's support!
My Water Pledge is a friendly competition between cities across the US to see who can be the most “water-wise.” Mayors nationwide will challenge their residents to conserve water, energy and other natural resources on behalf of their city through a series of informative, easy-to-use pledges online.
