John Lohman, publisher of QC Regional Business Journal joined us last week. He started out his time with us by telling us he is a serious die-hard Iowa Hawkeye including being class president and was even Herkey the Hawkeye!!
After being blind-sided and fired without cause from a large publication, he vowed to never get fired again. He figured the only way to do that is to own his own business.
On July 26, 2004, he started the Corridor Business Journal out of Iowa City in his basement. He published the first edition of its weekly business magazine for the Cedar Rapids / Iowa City Corridor. Every week since then, the CBJ has provided its readers with comprehensive coverage of local business news and analysis. He started The QC Business Journal just this year, and he is excited for the opportunity to serve the thriving business environment in the QCA. He asked Jennifer DeWitt, a previous business writer with the QC Times, and recently with the QC Chamber, to run it. They have 12,000 readers for the Corridor, and have recently sent out a 2,000 person shotgun marketing blast to local QC businesses. The journal is by subscription only and is mailed to subscribers on a bi-weekly basis. No individual issues will be available. You can subscribe digitally, print, or both.
