Today's Program: The impact of study abroad

Liz Nino is a Quad City native. Born into a bilingual home, Liz always had an interest for languages, culture and travel. At an early age of 15 she studied abroad in Monterrey, Mexico. After graduating from United Township High School in East Moline, Liz embarked on a Rotary Exchange to Ystad, Sweden. Her international experiences led her to pursue a double major in International Business and Spanish from St. Ambrose University. After receiving her bachelors, Liz spent five years teaching abroad in Ecuador, Spain and Mexico. Liz later returned to the Quad Cities to pursue a Masters in Bilingual Education, which led to a new career opportunity at Augustana College. Liz currently directs the International Admissions office at Augustana College where she continues her passion to foster intercultural experiences. Liz lives with her husband Ramon Morales in Hampton, Illinois.

Last Meeting, August 28th
We've had a busy three weeks away from our regular meeting routine. Last week was no exception. About 50 Rotarians and Kiwanians gathered at Oakwood Country Club to enjoy a day of golf. Our group consisted of Moline Rotarians, East Moline/Silvis Rotarians, and Moline Kiwanis members, and a variety of guests.

Our day started with a light lunch and a welcome from Moline Rotary President, Jim Nelson. Our event organizer, Dennis Kelly then provided the rule of golf and teased the perks of hole prizes, after play prizes, and offered praise to Mother Nature for the beautiful golfing weather, then it was off to golf (or back to work for those who joined for lunch only).

Many thanks to Dennis for organizing the golf day, we're looking forward to next year!

Note: if anyone has photos from the day, please share!
