Gary Franque presented a check to the club for $1000 in memory of his wife, Margo, who died in December. They would have been celebrating their 49th Anniversary. Thank you for your generosity, Gary, and God bless you. (apologies from your editor)
Student Rotarians
Student Rotarians from Moline High School graced our club the last three weeks. Here are their bios!

Alec W. Ponder is a senior and is active in Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA), Field House Frenzy/Superfans. He played Quarterback on the MHS Football team and also plays Basketball.
“I volunteer at Habitat for Humanity and also at the Hauburg in Rock Island for grandparents. I help the Junior Maroons also and Coached them in the fall. I have been selected as an All conference QB and All metro QB twice in both years I have been at Moline. I have also met some of my closest friends here at Moline. I am also very thankful that I am a person that people can come up to and ask for help or guidance towards something because they see me as a leader in a way.”

Caroline J. Hazen, a Senior at MHS, is involved with Field House Frenzy/Superfans, Link Crew, Interact Club, and National Honor Society. She participates in basketball, football where she was the kicker for the team, and soccer where she is captain. She was also voted Homecoming Queen.
“I have participated in moline athletics for my 4 years of high school and been involved in various clubs. I attend sporting events and other events related to school. I care about Moline and the students and feel a lot of pride in my school and community. My school has given me many connections that I feel are meaningful and important.”

Trevor D. Francque is a senior at MHS and is involved in Field House Frenzy/Superfans, History Club, Interact Club, Intramurals, "M" Yearbook, National Honor Society. Trevor played Freshman Baseball and also participated in Moline Young Life.
“Being a representative of Moline High School is important to me because I want my school to be well represented and to leave a good impression on the community. I hope that people think Moline High School students are well behaved and respectful.”

Emma M. Peters is a senior at MHS and is involved in Contemporaries, Field House Frenzy/Superfans, Interact Club, and plays Soccer.
She was the JV captain for soccer last year and is also in Chick-fil-a Leadership Academy. She also is involved with Link crew to make the transition easier on the freshman and make them not so scared about coming to MHS.
“I play soccer outside of school and I also babysit all the time. I like to babysit to teach kids from right and wrong and see them grow each week. For soccer I like to push my teammates to be better when they don’t think that they are capable. I was the first female soccer player from Moline to commit to Black Hawk College to further my academic and soccer career. We have a lot of students at MHS and by becoming an ambassador you have people that will look up to and strive to become a leader. We are a family here and we need more people to stand up and become a leader.”

Isabella R. Smith is a Senior at MHS. Clubs and Activities she is involved with are Field House Frenzy/Superfans, History Club, Interact Club, and National Honor Society. She participates in Basketball (Captain), Soccer (Captain), and Volleyball. She was a member of Homecoming court.
“I have a very outgoing personality and I am a people pleaser. I have very good speaking and leadership skills that make me a strong candidate for ambassadorship. I believe being an ambassador for Moline High School is important because I believe that our high school deserves the utmost respect from all students. By being chosen, I am being recognized for giving my respect and honor to the students and staff of Moline.”

Gatlin J. Ford is a Senior at Moline. No bio was available.
Condolences to the family of Marv Schiess, who passed away peacefully on December 16, 2021, at the age of 96. Marv joined Rotary in January 1955 and was an active member of the club, as well as a weekly instigator at the naughty table, until he moved to Arizona to spend his final years. Marv is survived by his daughters, Connie Schiess and Nancy Simon, five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his stepdaughter Elaine Nelson and family. 
Condolences to the family of Don Schutter, who passed away on January 20, 2022, at the age of 98. Don joined Rotary in January 1976. Don was an advocate for the Salvation Army annual bell-ringing initiative and coordinated Moline Rotary’s volunteers for several years. Don is survived by his daughters Janet (Steve) Fuss, JoAnne Sandman, and Jill (Jay) Farrell, as well as five grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.
