This Monday's Program

This Monday, we welcome Bruce Peterson who will talk to us about the Natchez Trace Parkway. The Natchez Trace Parkway is a national parkway in the southeastern United States that commemorates the historic Natchez Trace and preserves sections of that original trail. Its central feature is a two-lane road that extends 444 miles (715 km) from Natchez, Mississippi, to Nashville, Tennessee.

Our Last "Speaker"

Our last speaker wasn't a speaker at all. Due to the cancellation of our annual Golf Outing we enjoyed a Club Social filled with fun and frivolity — AND GOLF!

A few brave souls contributed to the festivities with some Golf Jokes.

But, the highlight of the social was a putting contest that pitted member v. member in a contest of epic proportions.

And, the winner was awarded with an equally epic pair of (coveted) Rotary Socks!

Student Rotarians

The program will resume starting September 19th. We again have nine groups of students scheduled to participate.

The purpose of the program:

1) recognize students as outstanding students and young people in the community

2) show students that we are genuinely interested in them and support them in future endeavors.

3) Encourage students to pursue a life of "Service Above Self", and encourage them to consider joining Rotary in the future.

Members were encouraged to engage students with the above objectives in mind.

Rotary Youth Exchange

RYE program has once again resumed worldwide. Rotary Clubs are recruiting students and host families for the 2023 - 2024 exchange year.

Gary Francque presented to student and parents at Moline High School on September 7th. Several students have expressed interest and we have at least three student applications.

Our club must interview the students and parents to assess their eligibility. Club members will be needed to participate in interviews on Monday September 26th and Tuesday September 27th from 6:00 - 8:00 pm at Trinity Lutheran Church. Please contact Gary Francque if you can help.
